Samsung answers Apple with curvy Galaxy S6 phones, Samsung Pay

This Korean electronics giant is yet to set a very high competing ground for its all-time rival Apple by its new inventions which include a newly designed flagship smartphones, a virtual reality headset and a mobile payment system.
A day before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung announced its most awaited and much redesigned galaxy s series phones; the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung also announced a second Virtual reality headset called Samsung Gear VR.

Not wanting to fall victim of the peer pressure being encountered in today’s smartphones market, Samsung has made up its mind to give a whole new design to its flagship smartphones. So to say, Samsung has decided to do away with the very durable plastic mainstay in favour of some more premium materials, in this case aluminium and glass. This flagship phones of the year will be made of purely aluminium metal lines as well as plenty of glass.
It is cool to note that these two devices have very little difference in there specification with a very small difference in dimensions and battery life. Some of the new Samsung feature that come packed in these devices include:

  • ·         No microSD card
  • ·         Camera quick launch
  • ·         Improved fingerprint scanning
  • ·         Wireless charging
  • ·         Embedded battery
  • ·         Quick charging

Unfortunately, none of these devices is waterproof. Also, the devices will feature the latest Android software, Android 5.0 Lollipop
Samsung also announced that these devices will be launched in the second quarter and will be made available to 22 wireless operators in the whole world. Cricket and US cellular are among the major US carriers who will offer both the devices. Networks based in UK and Australia have not yet been announced.

Samsung Galaxy Gear VR Innovator Edition
At Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced its second Virtual reality Accessory. This Samsung Galaxy Virtual Reality Innovator Edition will work with all these Flagship phones, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
This headset is also 15% lighter when compared to its predecessor that was developed by Oculus. It has redesigned straps as well as some ventilation, all aimed at improving the comfort when wearing it for a long time.
Samsung pay
It’s clear that the world can’t just have too many payment systems. But it is also clear that the best payment system can practically outdo all the others. Is this what Samsung is aiming at? At the Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced its interest in mobile payment services. Samsung is turning mobile phones into a “self-contained” unit in the sense that the Samsung Pay application actually add a “wallet” into its smartphones.  This application lets users pay for goods, services and other bills by just waving their devices over a register, an alternative to using credit cards or cash.
It is crystal clear that the first devices to get Samsung Pay are the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. In summer, this application will launched in South Korea and USA, and then later on in China and Europe. This is a perfect answer to Apple’s Apple Pay that was announced last year with iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6.
The Samsung version does not only use near-field communications. It has also included a technology which will give room for use by any register that accepts credit cards. After recently acquiring LoopPay, Samsung has included Magnetic Secure Transmission to its flagship phones. This technology is used alongside traditional credit card swipe reader. This payment method will therefore be made compatible with close to all terminals in the world.
